A native of Albany, Georgia, Ben Haggerty became a lawyer because he wanted to serve the hardworking people in the community where he was raised. As an attorney at the Law Offices of William F. Underwood, III, P.C., he is proud to provide much-needed legal advocacy to workers and accident victims who are struggling to recover from life-changing injuries.
“I enjoy helping those who are unable to help themselves, and what better way to do so than to be a legal advocate,” he says. “I especially enjoy giving back to this community that helped do so much for me during my time growing up here.”
Ben began his legal career at another local law firm, where he worked in a wide variety of practice areas, including insurance defense and general defense litigation. There, he gained extensive experience in the strategies that insurers use to fight claims from injured individuals. Now, at the Law Offices of William F. Underwood, III, P.C., he uses that valuable knowledge to fight on behalf of injured individuals. He understands how insurance companies view his clients’ cases, and he knows how to win against them.
“I enjoy being a part of a practice that works together for the sole purpose of helping others and not just interested in a monetary gain,” he says. “I appreciate that we put people first.”
After being born and raised in Albany, Ben earned his bachelor’s in psychology from Valdosta State University in 2013. He went on to earn his J.D. from John Marshall Law School in 2017.
Ben is a member of the Georgia Bar Association and the Dougherty Judicial Circuit Bar Association. He serves on the board of the Artesian City Sertoma Club as parliamentarian. He also earned recognition as part of the Albany Chamber of Commerce 40 under 40 for 2019.
Outside the office, Ben enjoys spending time with friends and family. He is an avid golfer and enjoys hunting and the outdoors. He also enjoys reading books, with Stephen King being a favorite.
